In my previous post, I have talked about how you can become a copywriting expert quickly, and that is to know who are you selling to.
Now, this breaks down to different psychographic as well, such as gender, status etc.
Remember the key point… you can’t sell to anyone… and a great sales letter certainly focuses on a single direction.
Lets take for example, you have a weight loss product… the question to ask is… is your target market appealing to the female or the male market.
Understand that female audience are emotional buyers while male audience are ego and “judgmental” based.
In other words, if you are selling to a female audience, you need to seduce, tease and build rapport throughout your copy… so that it feels like as if your audience knew and trust you. Pictures you use plays a part… and it definitely helps appeal and connect them to the copy.
If you are selling to a male audience, then a strong “reasoning” is needed as male audience always needs one damn reason for their buying. Not logical ones… but something to convince their other “half”.
Lets take for example… why do you think mercedes are meant for the rich ? Well… the reasoning can be stupid… like the engine is better… or they are made from better quality steel plates… or the leather just smells better and I am allergic to cushion seats…
Come on… lets be honest… the main reason for a car is for transport, nothing else. But each of this single reasoning can help convince a guy to go ahead with the decision to buy… like I’ve mentioned… its not logical.. but.. they need a justification in order to open up their wallets.
So… gender matters in how you appeal to your audience… understand your market well… especially who you are targeting.. and you can easily write a high converting sales copy.
